Origins of Our Blog

Our Goals

Hi there! We’re Dawson and Saanvikha, soon-to-be graduates of the University of Georgia. As we wrap up our college journeys, we’ve been reflecting on the incredible adventures, challenges, and lessons that have shaped our time in college. From navigating academics, extracurriculars, and professional aspirations to balancing personal growth and relationships, college has been a whirlwind of discomfort, ambiguity, and discovery.

This blog is our way of sharing the wisdom, stories, and advice we’ve gained along our journeys on top of being a way to document our time throughout college and beyond. As you can see, the blog is divided into several categories highlighting personal stories, practical tips, and honest reflections. Whether you’re just starting your college experience or preparing for life beyond graduation, we hope to offer insights that help you make the most of this chapter of life. This blog is as much about our stories as it is about building a community of students and young professionals navigating similar paths.

As we embark on our careers and tackle the challenges of adulthood, this blog will evolve with us, serving as both a reflection of our journey and a resource for others. We’re thrilled to have you join us on this journey, and we encourage you to reach out—we’d love to connect and support you! Additionally, please scroll down to learn more about each of us individually.

Who We Are

Dawson Templin

Hi everyone! My name is Dawson, and I’m so excited for you to follow along as we navigate life from campus to corporate! Throughout college, I’ve come to realize that life rarely unfolds the way we initially plan, and that’s part of what makes it exciting! I am a current senior at the University of Georgia studying biochemistry and economics with an interest in working in the healthcare industry in the long run.

I was born on a small Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and over the years, I’ve moved five times across four states, attending 10 different schools. For much of my life, I envisioned becoming a doctor, however, as I got deeper into my studies, I began questioning whether becoming a doctor aligned with my desire for variety, creativity, and solving the broader challenges in medicine.

This all came together as I joined the Institute for Leadership Advancement (ILA) at UGA. Before, I thought business was all about money and ego, but ILA opened my eyes to how vital business is to solving problems in healthcare, education, and beyond. As I decided how to best make an impact in healthcare, I stumbled onto consulting and was captivated by the opportunity to solve problems early in my career, rather than waiting decades to make an impact.

My first recruitment attempt didn’t work out, but that led to an incredible think tank internship in D.C. where I focused on national security policy. This experience deepened my understanding of how policy drives business and healthcare systems. It also had inspired me to pursue a JD-MBA after gaining a few years of work experience so that I can better navigate the intersection of policy, business, and medicine.

The journey from aspiring doctor to consultant wasn’t a straight line, but that shift taught me to embrace uncertainty and remain open to possibilities. I’ve learned that the most fulfilling paths often emerge when you’re willing to adapt, learn, and trust the process.

Now, as I prepare to step into the world of consulting, I carry with me lessons from every twist and turn. Whether it’s exploring career opportunities, navigating college and complex relationships, studying abroad, or simply sharing my journey, I hope my story resonates with those navigating their own crossroads from college to beyond. I’m so excited to join Saanvikha in this venture and thanks for following along!

Saanvikha Saravanan

Hello! My name is Saanvikha, and I couldn’t be more excited to start this blog with Dawson! My time at the University of Georgia has been a plethora of unexpected adventures and opportunities that have shaped who I am and where I’m headed. As I finish my last semester, majoring in biochemistry and Spanish, I’m reflecting on a journey filled with growth, challenges, and discovery. While I currently envision a future in international health policy or health law, who knows—life has a way of surprising us!

I was born in India, but my family moved to a small town in Indiana when I was five years old. Most of my childhood memories are set amidst cornfields and the close-knit charm of the Midwest. A pivotal moment in my life came when I moved to Georgia right before my junior year of high school. Transitioning from a tight-knit community to the fast-paced metro Atlanta area during the COVID-19 pandemic was anything but easy. However, this shift sparked immense personal growth and helped me better understand my values and priorities.

For most of my life, I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted to do. Even when I started college, I debated between becoming a pediatric neuro-oncologist, an epidemiologist, a tech innovator, or even a power engineer. It was through my involvement in organizations like the Arch Policy Institute, The Backpack Project of Athens, my research lab, and the Institute for Leadership Advancement (ILA) that I discovered my passion for healthcare policy. I became fascinated by the impact of high-level decision-making on worldwide healthcare systems, marginalized communities, and patient care. This passion deepened during my internship at a hospital association in New York City, where I had the chance to engage with healthcare lawyers. Their work inspired me to consider pursuing a JD in the future.

So, why consulting? I didn’t even know what consulting was until sophomore year, when I met Dawson and he introduced me to the field. Learning more about it from him, UGA alumni, and my experiences in the ILA program piqued my interest in solving complex business problems across industries. Consulting offers me the unique opportunity to blend the technical and creative skills I’ve developed through my science and humanities background.

As I prepare to embark on my consulting journey post-graduation and move to Washington, D.C., I feel both excited and a little anxious. There are plenty of uncertainties ahead, but I’m eager to embrace the lessons they’ll bring. While I’m far from an expert on college or corporate life (I’m simply a 22-year-old carving out her own path), my hope is that you’ll find something relatable, inspiring, or helpful in my stories.

Thank you for joining us on this journey—I can’t wait to connect with you!
